GENTLEMAN'S PISTOLS

Borderline London 23 September 2009
Gentlemans Pistols
Gentlemans Pistols are a band that I've seen five times over the last couple of years and they vastly improve with every performance.  Hailing from Leeds these beatnik warriors are what 70's proto-punks Edgar Broughton Band would've sounded like if they were put through a woodchipper machine along with Budgie and Motorhead.
With just one release under their gunslinging belts, the self titled debut on Lee Dorian's Rise Above Records, the band sound a whole lot fresher and heavier live than they do on that studio release.

Tonight was the first time a London crowd got to see new guitarist Bill Steer who has replaced Chris Rodgers who unfortunately had to leave the band to bring up his new offspring.  Steer has brought more of a metal feel to the band with solos ricocheting off the walls.
Hopefully the band will be back in the studio soon because judging by the new songs performed tonight including 'Living In Sin Again' we should be in for a treat. Cathedral's Lee Dorrian was here tonight to see his signings as were members of Angel Witch.
Invest some time and check out the bearded Oxfam vested rockers because Gentlemans Pistols didn't fire a single blank tonight.
